Refined Office and Cafeteria Floor Plans

After researching egress code more thoroughly, I realized my primary lobby stairs were located too far away from the exit discharge to serve as an egress stairwell. Instead of using a U-shape staircase that was located 50’ away from the doors, I changed the layout to a straight run with a landing in the middle which brought the stairs within 30’ of the doors.

In the office and cafeteria I selected the furniture and placed the components into my Revit model. I was able to incorporate a level change into the cafeteria for raised seating and I relocated the private office upstairs to the center instead of along the windows.

With the use of trash paper, I began playing with flooring changes and ceiling changes for both the cafeteria and office space. In the cafeteria I used the flooring as another way to enforce circulation patterns, specifically near the entrance and exit. The office space shows flooring changes where collaborative spaces or work stations are located. Since the work stations have individual canopies for noise control, the ceiling does not need to have acoustic drop downs directly above these spots.

During this next week I expect to finish the same steps for the library and create more volumetric sketches for the primary spots in the building.
