Twice this semester, we are meeting with our mentors to discuss our capstone project. With my first meeting falling in the middle of our programming assignment, my mentor helped me focus in on defining spaces that I will want within my three uses.
By the end of the meeting we came up with the following ideas...
Adding a demonstration kitchen to the library and/or cafeteria
Incorporating activity spaces into the humanitarian office
Only opening the kitchen up to the public in the evening for dinner
Using silverware and nicer plates for meals to bring in a family atmosphere instead of a fast food feel
Including just as much technology as books in the library to provide resources for children that may not be available at schools
Lounge spaces need to be available in the library instead of the basic table and chairs
After this discussion I have realized how well my three uses fit together. Instead of being three uses that stand alone, my spaces will connect and operate with one another. Once space planning begins I expect this correlation to benefit my flow within the entire building.
