Project Overview

• Interior Design Capstone is broken up into two semesters, the first focusing on research and programming and the second focusing on design. We must find a 25,000 sq.ft. building that already exists and then transform it into an space comprising of three uses.

• When starting this process I knew I wanted my project to impact the community in some way which led me to look for buildings in lower income areas near Norman, OK. After searching online and reaching out to contacts, I finally settled on the Northeast Regional Health and Wellness Campus in Oklahoma City.

• Northeast Oklahoma City is a region below the national, state, and city average in income and house value. Families need support and resources that are not always readily available. These facts led me to my decision on the three uses within my building.

• Three Uses

• Humanitarian Office

• The mission of the humanitarian group is to provide assistance and relief to the surrounding community as well as organize mission trips for local churches. Collaborative efforts between community members and employees will occur at the office location. Small events and workshops will also be hosted here in order to educate, inform, and entertain those who attend.

• Library

• The mission of the library is to provide educational resources to the general public. Technology and books are readily available for all age groups. Study rooms and conference rooms are provided for group activities. Different events will also be hosted by the library to educate the public on different lifestyle subjects.

• Cafeteria

• The mission of the cafeteria is to provide an eating experience for the public as well as all the workers in the building. During lunch the employees in the building will be able to eat in the cafeteria. Whether for a quick meal or a luncheon meeting, the cafeteria will serve the needs of the employees. In the evening, the cafeteria will be open to the general public for dinner. Families will have the opportunity to sit down and eat homemade quality food together.
